Announcing the Hot Dog Hero program
John Prine loved hot dogs. He also believed in the power of small acts of kindness—a friendly hello to a stranger, a song that made someone feel less alone, or a simple gesture that could brighten someone’s day. The Hello in There Foundation’s new Hot Dog Hero program brings those ideas together in a fun and meaningful way.
For a gift of $20 or more to The Hello in There Foundation, donors can become a Hot Dog Hero by having their name or personal dedication written on a commemorative hot dog card and displayed on the growing Hot Dog Hero Wall at the Foundation’s headquarters for an entire year. Donors will also receive a matching bumper sticker featuring the message, “On a Roll for the Hello in There Foundation.”
Gifts can be made in a donor’s own name or given in honor or memory of someone special. Whether celebrating a birthday, wedding, anniversary, holiday, or simply spreading a little kindness, each Hot Dog Hero gift helps carry forward John Prine’s spirit of generosity.
Most importantly, all donations support grantmaking in honor of John Prine, helping The Hello in There Foundation continue its mission of supporting organizations and communities in need.
As the Hot Dog Hero Wall grows, donors will be able to follow along through the Foundation’s social media channels and search for their own hot dog among the many names and dedications. After a year, each hot dog will become part of the Foundation’s permanent archive—a lasting record of the people who showed up for the community.
The program is currently available to donors in the United States and offers a uniquely Prine-inspired way to turn a small contribution into something lasting.
Because in the spirit of John Prine, sometimes making the world a little better can be as simple as a hot dog, a hello, and a little generosity.
