John Prine loved hot dogs. He also loved small acts of generosity, a hello to a stranger, a song that made someone feel less alone. The Hot Dog Hero program brings all of that together in one gloriously simple idea.
When you make a gift of $20 or more to the Hello in There Foundation, we will write your name on a commemorative hot dog card and add it to our ever-growing Hot Dog Hero Wall at HITF headquarters, where it will be displayed for a full year.
Then, we’ll mail you or a loved one a matching bumper sticker so you can show off your support!
All donations given will support grantmaking in honor of John Prine.

Can I give a Hot Dog Hero gift in someone else's name?
Absolutely. It makes a genuinely wonderful birthday, anniversary, memorial, or holiday gift. Just tell us who to honor when you give. We reserve the right to decline any submission that doesn't reflect the spirit of this community. All names and dedications are subject to approval. We trust you know the vibe!
What does the hot dog look like?
Both the bumper sticker and the tribute card that we hang on the wall will look like the hot dog at the top of this page.
Will I get to see my hot dog on the wall?
Yes! We’ll post regular photos of the Hot Dog Hero Wall on social media, so you should be able to spot yours in the mix. If you would like an individual photo of your hot dog, just reach out to us at info@thehellointherefoundation.org and we will make that happen.
How long until my bumper sticker arrives?
Bumper sticker order fulfillment is handled by our wonderful partners at Port Merch and should take about ten business days. If you have questions about your order, please reach out to us at info@thehellointherefoundation.org and we’ll help out!
Do you ship internationally?
The Hot Dog Hero program is currently available to donors in the United States only. We hope to change that in the future, so stay tuned!
What happens to my hot dog after a year?
Every hot dog that has ever graced our wall becomes part of the Hello in There Foundation's permanent archive, a growing record of everyone who showed up for this community. Once a Hot Dog Hero, always a Hot Dog Hero.
Is my gift tax-deductible?
The Hello in There Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Your gift is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. The fair market value of the bumper sticker (roughly ten dollars when accounting for the accompanying tribute card & shipping) is not deductible.
