2023: Year in Review

In 2023, The Hello In There Foundation extended support to a wide and diverse network of organizations—Renewal House, The National Coalition for Homeless Veterans, The Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition, Porter's Call, Rise and Shine TN, the Country Music Hall of Fame’s Words and Music Program, Thistle Farms, Community Resource Center of Nashville, Conexión Américas, Capstone Community Action, The Central Vermont Council on Aging, Comfort Connections, Mosaic Changemakers, Inclusion Tennessee, Room In The Inn, Humanity and Inclusion, CARE, and Love Welcomes—all of which are grounded in a shared mission: to uphold human dignity and foster healing, belonging, and empowerment across communities. Though their work spans housing, immigration, mental health, education, aging, disability inclusion, creative expression, and global humanitarian aid, each grantee champions people who are often unheard or unseen, advocating for systems of care that begin with compassion and trust. From helping veterans and families recover from homelessness and addiction, to empowering immigrants and refugees, to ensuring that older adults and people with disabilities are not left behind, these organizations recognize the power of connection and belonging. Programs like Porter's Call and the Words and Music Program support emotional well-being and artistic expression, while groups like Inclusion Tennessee and Mosaic Changemakers work toward representation, equity, and community-led progress. CARE and Humanity and Inclusion extend these values globally, supporting the most vulnerable in times of crisis and recovery. The Hello In There Foundation’s 2023 grantees may serve different geographies and populations, but they are united in honoring every person's story, fostering environments where people feel seen, safe, and supported. Through this collective work, the Foundation carried forward John Prine’s legacy of empathy, justice, and radical kindness—centering those at the margins and affirming that everyone, no matter their journey, deserves a place to heal and belong.
